Happy New Year! I hope you have settled into 2012 comfortably and are ready for more incredible gigs coming your way this month. Quite a few are free so take advantage and maybe even take a chance on a few?

The Musical Comedy awards kick us off and The Wilmington Players are back to wow you their Chicago style long form improv. Then we have an Opera. I know, high brow. Luckily it’s about social networking and in English so will be awesome. Communion team up with DMP to bring us incredible music along with favourites Death and Glory and Which Way Is Up!

The season to be merry has once again snuck up on us so down tools everyone it’s officially a festive holiday. Come and celebrate it with us, we’ve got mulled wine on the bar and Xmas pies in the kitchen. With incredible gigs include sets fron Longview and The Pajama Men to entertain you, what more could you want?

Hello all

We have got some red hot gigs to keep you warm on these chilly November nights. Beautiful Port-royal join us for part of their European tour, Kid Canaveral swing by with charming indie pop and Louis Brennan debuts his new material and exciting new band. Comedy brings forth The Beta Males new material (vikings and plenty of them), James Acaster, Marcel Lucont and the fabulous new character night from Spencer Jones and Jamie Glassman.

And The Wilmo’s very own James Rowland brings back his incredible cabaret band The idiot Circus. Hurrah!

Hi all

We welcome new ale The Wilmington Earl to our pumps this month, not only is it fitting but also delicious and incredibly Autumnal unlike the weather this weekend. Excellent events this month, Bam Thwok launch their new alt. pop album which will be going straight into our dukebox (and possibly for sale behind our bar) and the creators of Bright Club bring Science Showoff which is likely to be the most intelligent night we’ve ever had. We also welcome the launch of The Wilmington Players, an all new long form improv comedy group. Graduates of David Shore’s masterful tuition (10 years teaching at Second City, Chicago don’t you know) these guys are set to blow the doors off the traditional improv scene. Exciting.

We have some excellent gigs for you this month. An influx from the North as Scottish based label Fence Records bring in some excellent new talent, Candied Nonsense have blown in from the West so we are set for a serious storm in the venue. New comedy from The Awkward Silence featuring Best Newcomer nominee Thom Tuck and the welcome return of Bright Club, topped off with Wilmo favourites The Pocketbooks album launch. Delightful.

It appears spring has finally sprung and have we got an April for you! Vaudeville with Will Pickvance and friends, long form improv with awesome troupe 8bit, and tonight, Trace Recordings showcase some of their top talent.

The Croshow Family return this Friday with Look! and Which Way Is Up! was so excited by the Onward Chariots landing on our choppy shores that they’ve arranged an extra special gig in their honour. Wowza.

Enjoy the run up to the party season with some truly incredible gigs from John Smith’s intimate show to Katy Carr’s spectacular album launch. Comedy has hit it’s stride with the return of the Ladygarden residency who are bringing the best of Edinburgh with them as well as the launch of Goodbye Old Hat and the continuing chaos of The Story Pirates. It’s New York month for The Wilmington Film Club to be enjoyed with a Sunday lunch for free!
