The Kittiwakes + Black Peak (Joint Headliners)

7:45pm. £7.00

"’Black Peak’ are Darren Black & Deborah Peake. Formed in 2009, they came together as a duo after bumping into each other at various gigs and festivals in Hampshire, where they are based. They perform their own blend of original contemporary and traditional acoustic/folk, mainly around Darren’s thought-provoking songs and tunes, and Deborah’s creative fiddle arrangements and songs."

The Kittiwakes craft timeless and magical acoustically dappled folk treats - gentle and alluring ostensibly Gaelic in sound texture and gorgeously flighty braided as they are by corteges of mandolins, accordions and violins.’ - Losing Today

8pm. £6/£5 with flyer.

DUALIST  are a four-piece rock band based in London. Their songs are a gloriously tense balance of edgy guitar riffs and retro synths, of plaintive emotion and ebullient excitement, of anger and joy, of power and helplessness. In 2008 the band recorded their debut album, We Are You, at the famous Moles Studio in Bath. Under the guidance of producer Paddy Richardson and engineer Paul Corkett (Bjork, The Cure, The Coral, Nick Cave), Dualist forged their unique sound and laid it down with carefully frantic glee.

MMM... GOOD TIMES Friday 12th March 2010

Gentlemen's Agreement + The Rebel + The Good News

*£4 on the door, ladies half price*

A headline show by Gentlemen's Agreement, who comprise about half of Croydon supergroup Do Me Bad Things, a splinter of pop legends Scritti Politti and the amazing Chantal Brown, singer with much-lauded soul-metal combo Invasion. Expect to hover unexpectedly in that area where Doobie Brothers yacht rock meets blistering power ballads; a genuinely jaw-dropping spectacle on London's indie circuit.

Support comes from Ben Wallers aka The Rebel; the erstwhile Country Teasers frontman delivers rootsy Americana to make you confront your deepest social prejudices. First up are The Good News, an impossibly youthful, compelling new band who sound for all the world like Haircut 100 with attention deficit disorder. DJs will play a smooth selection of not remotely guilty pleasures. Mmm... Good Times...

MONDAYMONDAY Monday 15th March 2010

Wendy Arrowsmith + The Road

7:45pm. £7.00

Born and raised in the suburbs of Glasgow, Wendy’s musical influences as a child were mostly Trad Jazz or Church hymns! Although she learnt Burns and other traditional Scottish songs at school, it wasn’t until she moved to England to marry that she began to really delve into traditional folk music. Wendy has sung many different styles of music – ranging from large scale classical choral works, operetta and musicals to backing vocalist for a prog rock band! But with folk music she has found songs that come from the heart and allow great emotional expression and social commentary. She describes herself as “a singer who plays guitar”, but this shouldn’t detract from Wendy’s musical abilities not just on guitar, but also on whistles, bodhran, mandolin and most recently accordion.
